Working together on the future of Maritime Airfield De Kooy and Den Helder Airport

The Province of Noord-Holland, the municipality of Den Helder, and the Ministry of Defence are jointly taking a new step in the development of Maritime Airfield De Kooy and Den Helder Airport. On November 14, 2025, State Secretary Gijs Tuinman, Deputy Esther Rommel, and Alderman Fotigui Camara (see photo) signed a letter of intent in which they agreed to reach a broad cooperation agreement in 2026.
Buitenveld Development Framework provides direction for the future of Willemsoord

The municipality of Den Helder, Defence, and the Central Government Real Estate Agency have jointly drawn up a Spatial Development Framework for Buitenveld. This area, near Willemsoord and the KIM, will be developed in the coming years into a modern accommodation location for personnel of the Royal Navy.
Initial assessment of communication regarding the Maritime Cluster

In August 2025, a study was conducted into the communication needs surrounding the Maritime Cluster. A total of 129 people participated in the survey, including residents and entrepreneurs.
