Den Helder Airport leads the nation in unmanned drone flights over the North Sea. Drones have a wide range of applications in the offshore sector and at offshore wind farms. They produce significantly fewer CO₂ emissions.

Working together on the future of Maritime Airfield De Kooy and Den Helder Airport

The Province of Noord-Holland, the municipality of Den Helder, and the Ministry of Defence are jointly taking a new step in the development of Maritime Airfield De Kooy and Den Helder Airport. On November 14, 2025, State Secretary Gijs Tuinman, Deputy Esther Rommel, and Alderman Fotigui Camara (see photo) signed a letter of intent in which they agreed to reach a broad cooperation agreement in 2026.
