On Tuesday evening, July 8, 2025, a well-attended walk-in meeting took place in the town hall of Den Helder regarding future developments in the port area, including plans for the Ravelijnbrug and the Vaarroute Willemsoord. More than a hundred visitors – including residents, entrepreneurs, council and committee members, and other interested parties – received an explanation of the state of affairs. Program Manager Hessel Hiemstra opened the evening. During the information market, there was room for questions and sharing concerns, for example about the living environment or accessibility. Visitors could also fill out a short survey about communication regarding the Maritime Cluster, so that we can better tailor this to their wishes and expectations in the future.

During this meeting, three studies were presented. The studies and presentations can be found on this webpage, under “Maritime Cluster Studies.” Next Steps and Status of the Studies The program manager emphasized that this is an interim report, not a set of final decisions: The studies conducted are primarily “pieces of the puzzle” for the further development of the plan. We will take visitors’ input into account as we move forward, including the start of the planning process. Part of this process is the opportunity for public input. Only then will administrative decision-making follow for each project.
